Websites For Dummies – Introduction
Hi, glad to have you here at my Websites For Dummies Blog.
Wow you think you are a dummy! I am sure you do not really believe that. If this was the case, any one who doesn’t know something about a certain subject could be called a dummy. Albert Einstein probable knew nothing about building a website so I wouldn’t have been surprised if I had him as a visitor to my “Websites For Dummies” Blog. You would not have thought him a dummy. Mind you websites weren’t around when he died in 1955. Coincidentally the first website was designed by Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee who was born in 1955. The first website was built by him at CERN and came live in 1991. Gee! this website business is so young only 19 years old.
Terms like “Websites For Dummies” are not considered derogatory these days. Just look at the famous “XXX for Dummies” series of books (Not me by the way, I wish) that are now sold by the millions. I Consider the term “Dummy” or Dummies” as describing that a person has something yet to learn.
So getting back to the crux, what is this site “Websites For Dummies” all about and why am I creating it. Well I decided to create it because I joined a membership site called “Create Your First website by 3.45 this Afternoon” but before I go any further I should introduce myself.
My name is Wilf Gerrard-Staton, I am retired and have worked in the computer industry for over 35 years. Before that I was in the Royal Air Force (British) where I was trained on Flight Simulators where I was first introduced to Computers. When I left the R.A.F. in 1974, I migrated to Australia where I entered the Computer Industry in earnest. Starting out as a Computer Engineer then progressively an Engineering manager, Technical Support manager, and then started on my own as a computer consultant. Over time I worked for Control Data, Honeywell Information Systems, Wang and eventually got a contract with Kodak looking after all their systems across the Asia Pacific region.
I retired a few years ago to the country in Australia where my wife and I moved a house built in 1868 and extended it. You can see it at “Mirboo In the Strzelecki Ranges” which is a community blog I started. We also own the big heritage hall you can see in the picture on the first page.
You may ask, with all this heavy stuff behind me why would I want to join a membership site called “Create Your First website by 3.45 this Afternoon”?
It was not because I did not know how to create a website it was because I was a dummy in a certain areas. The membership site also stressed that it was important to build a list of people in order to make money on the Internet. This, I wanted to do and also how to build a certain type of website in order to do so. It also taught many other things I knew little about in the area of Internet marketing. The Membership site taught one how to do all this and rather than plow through books and things I decided that joining the site would be the quickest way to learn. Chris Farrell, who was an absolute dummy two years ago, created the membership site. He is British and became so successful that he was able to afford to move to Beverley Hills and continue from there.
I found that the way he presented all aspects of creating a website so down to earth and easy to understand that I have stayed a member even though I now know all I need to know about creating lists. I have also made and helped many friends on this site through the memberships forum.
What this Blog is about (What is a Blog?) is guiding you through the first stages of creating your first website using his free Ebook.
Now one of the reasons I have created this “Websites For Dummies” Blog is that I found many new members were getting lost among the richly endowed membership site. They were also not following strict steps to learning, diving off in all directions and not getting any results. Lets face it you are a “Dummy” you do not take a few lessons in learning how to drive a car and suddenly dive off and try driving a tank.
So bear with me this will become a roadmap guiding you through all the scripts and videos that Chris has developed in order for you to eventually become a whiz at creating money making websites (or Blogs).
“Websites For Dummies” will use the Ebook as a guide and will make you follow the steps in order to produce your first website. If you decide to move away from these steps, I am afraid I cannot help you.
Many times I have seen questions on the membership site forum where members have been asking as question about something that makes it obvious that they have not followed the steps, watched the appropriate videos or attended any of the free webinars presented by Chris.
So the first order of the day is to sign up for the free Website Ebook. Just fill in the form you will find on this site with your first name and a valid email address. There is no obligation for anything whatsoever. If you want to be coached though, you will need to get it.
Once again welcome to the “Websites For Dummies” Blog get started by visiting “Your Journey Starts Here”
